You must remove the case before the adapter will function properly. 2. This adapter does not pass data through to your laptop. It's no longer possible to develop iPhone applications or sync your iPhone while listening to music on your iPhone at the same time. These two use cases were previously supported when the iPhone had a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It's also worth pointing out that this adapter does not function as a headphone splitter, even though it logically makes sense to support that functionality on something that appears to be a splitter.

They work fine with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus, however, when utilized with the Smart Battery it simply does not work. To be honest, perhaps 1 out of 10 times it works. Not consistent. Belkin's support was completely useless and a waste of time.

The second didn't last 3 months before cutting out. I made sure to plug & unplug by pulling only on the hard plastic covering the plug (no pulling on the cord). I don't know who Belkin is using for their technicians, design, & quality control but they all need to be fired. Absolute garbage product...

I thought the first one was a fluke, and with the second I swore “never again!” The third time, I got smart and wrapped the whole cord with electrical tape, since it seems like that is the failure point...failed in 4 months instead of two!!! If I could give this piece of junk zero stars, I would. Frankly, I give Apple zero stars for recommending this product and not having an OEM option ready for the iPhone 7 launch.

However, I listen to a lot of music and baseballs games during the workday so I often need to charge up before the workday is over. This thing worked well for about a week - I could charge and listen at the same time. Then the audio jack died - it will go in and out, which is embarrassing because all of a sudden, the sound starts blaring out of the phone with no notice. Then the charging died - which means this thing is totally useless. If this were an off-brand charger not endorsed by Apple, that would be one thing. But the fact that this died WITHIN A MONTH AND A HALF while being the "Apple Certified" version of this item is infuriating. DO NOT BUY. Also Apple, get a clue. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to be able to charge and listen (the way we ALWAYS have until this ridiculous form factor came out) at the same time. And no, I'm not interested in bluetooth speakers as their price point is too high.
