Catch the Highlights.

The Health app uses machine learning to determine the metrics that matter most to you, and it automatically creates Highlights to bring that information front and centre. You can designate Favourites. And you’ll see alerts for things like excessive noise exposure or if an unusually high or low heart rate is detected.

Charts with smarts.

Staying healthy is a long-term pursuit. Interactive charts let you quickly see health trends over time, then dive in for a deeper look with just a touch. See how your cholesterol or blood pressure has changed over the years. Or review your exercise activity for a given day, week or month.

Stay in sync with your cycle.

The new Cycle Tracking feature lets you log your period using your iPhone or Apple Watch simply by tapping. You can also record symptoms such as headaches or cramps. Using the information you’ve logged, it can help predict when your next period or fertility window is about to begin.* The Health app creates simple graphical charts so you can quickly review cycle length and variation.

An app a day keeps the doctor away.

The Health app can incorporate data from thousands of third-party apps that are designed to promote healthier habits — everything from nutrition to meditation to fitness. You’ll even find app recommendations for health categories that interest you. Data collected from apps is stored alongside data from your Apple Watch and information you’ve logged directly on your iPhone.

Chances are your iPhone goes with you nearly everywhere you go. Create an emergency Medical ID card that allows emergency personnel to access your critical medical information from the Lock screen.

You are in charge of your data.

The Health app lets you keep all your health and fitness information under your control and in one place on your device. You decide which information is placed in Health and which apps can access your data through the Health app. When your phone is locked with a passcode, Touch ID or Face ID, all your health and fitness data in the Health app — other than your Medical ID — is encrypted. Your health data stays up to date across all your devices automatically using iCloud, where it is encrypted while in transit and at rest. Apps that access HealthKit are required to have a privacy policy, so make sure you review these policies before providing apps with access to your health and fitness data.
