It’s our trade-in and recycling program that’s good for you and the planet. If your current iPad is eligible for trade-in credit, you can offset the purchase price of a new one. If it’s not eligible for credit, you can recycle it for free.
-
The Apple Trade In program makes it easy to trade in an eligible iPad. Just answer a few questions regarding the model and condition, and we will provide an estimated trade-in value** or a simple way to recycle it for free if it’s not eligible for credit.
If your iPad is eligible and you accept the quote, we will send you a free trade-in kit, separate to your new iPad (at no cost to you) so you can then send in your current iPad within the 14-day return window.
Once we receive your iPad, we’ll inspect it and verify its condition. If the condition matches what you described, there’s nothing more you need to do. If the condition doesn’t match, a new trade-in value will be provided. You’ll have the option to either accept this revised value or reject it. We’ll work with you to confirm that you still want to move forward with the trade-in.
The trade-in process can take up to 2–3 weeks.
You can also trade in your device at an Apple Store at the point of purchase; however, the trade-in value in store may be different from the estimated trade-in value you received online.
-
Your estimated trade-in credit will be applied to the payment method used to purchase your new iPad once we confirm the condition of your trade-in device. If the trade-in value exceeds your purchase total, we’ll refund the difference on an Apple Store Gift Card. And if your device is not eligible for credit, we can recycle it for free or return it to you.
-
Once we’ve received your trade-in device, a team inspects it and verifies its condition. If the condition matches what you’ve described, you will receive the estimated value. If it doesn’t match, we’ll notify you of the revised value and confirm that you still want to move forwards with the trade-in.
-
If you’re trading in online, it generally takes 2–3 weeks. But the sooner you send us your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and apply the trade-in credit to your order. If you’re trading in at an Apple Store, you’ll receive either instant credit towards your next purchase or an Apple Store Gift Card you can use anytime.
