Apple TV+ has received Edinburgh TV Awards 2021 nominations for “Trying” in the Best Comedy Series and “Ted Lasso” in the Best International Series categories, announced today, Wednesday, September 8.

Apple’s critically lauded series “Trying” has been roundly praised as “joyous,” “charming” and “a treat to watch,” and has a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 100%. In the series, Rafe Spall and Esther Smith star as Jason and Nikki who are trying for a baby. After struggling to conceive, they decide to look into adoption. Supported by adoption liaison officer Penny, played by Imelda Staunton, “Trying” is a comedy series about growing up, settling down and finding someone to love.

Brendan Hunt, Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein and Nick Mohammed in “Ted Lasso” — “Ted Lasso” received a nomination for Best International Series from the Edinburgh TV Awards 2021.

The broadly acclaimed “Ted Lasso” secures its first major UK award nomination, after recently making history as the most nominated comedy in Emmy Awards history, and earning an esteemed Peabody Award. To date, “Ted Lasso” has been also honoured with an Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series Award for star Jason Sudeikis at the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards; three Critics Choice Awards — for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Sudeikis, and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hannah Waddingham — sweeping all categories in which the widely beloved series was nominated; a Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the Golden Globe Awards for Sudeikis; and, the Writers Guild of America crowned “Ted Lasso” with wins for both Best Comedy and Best New Series.

“Ted Lasso” stars Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, a small-time American college football coach hired to coach a Premier League team despite having no experience coaching the English game. Sudeikis also serves as executive producer on the show and is supported by an Emmy nominated ensemble including Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift and Nick Mohammed.
