Apple Watch

Apple Watch is equipped with powerful health and safety features that kick in when you need them. Discover how with the help of these real Australian stories.

Fall Detection

“My Apple Watch detected my fall. Then it alerted emergency services and my wife to my location.”

Bruce Mildenhall

Bruce collided with a kangaroo while cycling through the Macedon Ranges in Central Victoria.

  • “I was coming down the mountain on my bike. Next thing I knew, I woke up in an ambulance.”
  • Help arrived thanks to the coordinates shared by Bruce’s Apple Watch. He was taken to hospital and treated for serious injuries, and was back on his bike a few months later.
  • “I didn't realise my Apple Watch had this remarkable capacity to potentially save my life. So, that was a very, very pleasant surprise when it happened.”

Help. When
you need it.

Whether you fall, get in a crash or need help in an emergency, Apple Watch can call for help when you need it.

Fall Detection. Apple Watch can detect when you’ve taken a hard fall and automatically connect you with emergency services if you’re unresponsive.1

Crash Detection. Apple Watch is able to detect if you’re in a severe car crash. When a severe crash is detected, it can contact emergency services, provide dispatchers with your location and notify your emergency contacts.1

Emergency SOS. When you make a call with Emergency SOS, your Apple Watch calls local emergency services and shares your location. Get help by pressing and holding the side button.1

Heart Health Notifications

“If I didn’t have my Apple Watch, I might not be here. And that’s crazy to say.”

Lexie Northcott

Lexie was a typically active teenager. But her Apple Watch had been sending her low heart rate notifications for more than a year.

  • “I felt fine. But my watch was telling me otherwise.”
  • “Eventually, my watch was sending me about five notifications a day. That’s when I felt like something was a little bit wrong here.”
  • A doctor examined Lexie and determined that her heart urgently needed a pacemaker. She successfully underwent life-saving surgery and was soon back on her favourite hiking trail.

Watches out
for your heart.

Apple Watch gives you powerful heart health insights at a glance. And when you’re ready to share them with your doctor, friends or family members, you’re in control.

Heart Health Notifications. Unusually high or low heart rates and irregular heart rhythms (known as arrhythmias) could be signs of a serious condition. Notifications in the Heart Rate app on Apple Watch will alert you to these irregularities so you can take action and consult your doctor.2

ECG. With the ECG app, Apple Watch is capable of generating an ECG similar to a single-lead electrocardiogram.3 It’s a momentous achievement for a wearable device that can provide critical data for doctors and peace of mind for you.

AFib History. If you’ve been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, AFib History on Apple Watch can estimate how frequently your heart is in AFib.4 And you can use the Health app to track lifestyle factors that may influence your condition.

It’s the ultimate device

for a healthy life.

Apple Watch can do what your other devices can’t because it’s on your wrist. When you wear it, you get a fitness partner that measures all the ways you move, meaningful health insights, innovative safety features, and a connection to the people you care about most.
