  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.

      Charger broke within 4 months

After transporting my charger in my backpack, I was surprised to have found the cord to be frayed. Looks like a lot of people are having quality issues as well.

      This product is an embarrassment

Such beautifully designed sophisticated Apple technology and power adaptors that come from another world and potentially present danger to life. Just few months Such beautifully designed sophisticated Apple technology and power adaptors that come from another world and potentially present danger to life. Just few months after normal use, the rubber insulation peals off the wires, if you touch exposed power wires, you know what possibly can happen. But this is not a new issue. I have been an Apple user for about 15 years at least, bought at least 6 products and this story keeps repeating. Why is it so hard to find insulating material that will not fall apart in just few months? And to pay 75$ is a hefty price for a power cord of terrible quality. I wish I could give it a zero. And I also wish I could attach a photo to show you how mine looks like. Apple, do something!

Mine will not establish a firm connection at the computer and requires a long and sometimes unsuccessful attempt to get it connected- I often get the "green" light but it will not begin to charge until I jiggle the plug ever so gently and then maybe it will establish a charging circuit. Pure unadulterated horse puckey to have this occur so soon and so often and to add insult to injury charge me $80 for a new one. You have me over a barrel-I have no option other than to get a PC or pay the outrageous price. Not a happy Apple camper

Still in fine shape after five years

I still have my MagSafe 2 Power Adapter that came with my 2014 MacBook Air. I have never had a problem with it. It is still working just fine. I was shocked to see so many negative reviews. I must echo the reviewer who said that either I got lucky, or other people are inordinately rough on their equipment. I treat my chargers with care and they have all been good to me.
