Had the same question myself and with a bit of searching found an interesting article which suggests Had the same question myself and with a bit of searching found an interesting article which suggests it's possible. The article points out that the 29W charger still gives the best performance but the 61W seems to be an improvement on the stock charger supplied with the iPad Pro. "Although the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter provides the fastest charging to the Apple iPad Pro, it still gets a good charging experience with a USB Power Delivery based Apple charger like the Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter."
