Overview
Small and thin enough to take anywhere, iRig Pads is a convenient MIDI pad controller for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac. Now you can easily play and control virtual drum, percussion and electronic instruments whenever and wherever you want. iRig Pads turns your iOS device or MacBook into a production station for making beats grooves, electronic tracks and more.
With 16 velocity-sensitive rubber triggers in a standard 4 by 4 configuration, iRig Pads is just the thing for laying down drum and percussion parts. Each pad lights up in one of three different colours in reaction to your playing or in response to messages from your apps. iRig Pads also includes two assignable knobs, a push-button rotary encoder, two buttons and a slider, all of which are programmable.
iRig Pads is MIDI class-compliant, meaning it works with hundreds of music-creation apps on iOS, Mac and PC without you having to install drivers. It comes preloaded with a range of presets for the most popular apps, but you can also create and save your own settings. iRig Pads includes Lightning and USB connection cables and a 30-pin cable is optional.
Get started instantly with the included apps and software: iRig Pads includes SampleTank 3 SE, a custom edition of IK’s flagship music- and groove-production software. Plus you can download SampleTank for iPhone and iPad and GrooveMaker 2 free from the App Store and unlock exclusive in-app content.

It does not show iphone 6 as compatible, my son has a 5 s now but am concerned this will be obsolete if he upgrades to a 6, he also has a iPad mini 2
