With the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, it's easy to download photos and videos from your digital camera to your iPad or iPhone with Lightning support so you can view them on the gorgeous Retina display and share them with family and friends.

After you connect the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, your iPad or iPhone automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose which photos and videos to import, then organizes them into albums. When you sync iPad or iPhone to your PC or Mac, the photos and videos on your iPad or iPhone are added to your computer's photo library.

The Lightning to USB Camera Adapter supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW, along with SD and HD video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4. Requires iOS 9.2 or later.

I was ready to send the adapter back, because I really need it for the EOS, my main camera- I am going to England this summer and am only taking my iPad Mini, not my laptop, so have to have some way to back up photos (losing photos due to a lost/damaged card, camera, etc would be beyond tragic) Then I read the review that suggested going to the camera's menu and changing the Communication setting from Normal to PTP. Tada!! Success - the pictures loaded right up, I am very happy, and the adapter does not have to go back to Apple.

I was worried about the previous reviews, but I am totally satisfied with this product. it works with my Canon EOS DSLR and also with my old Olympus Camedia. I think people may be having problems with their camera's not being fully charged up when they try to transfer.

For some reason could not get the 'Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter' to work no matter what the settings. Anyway the 'Lightning to USB Camera Adapter' auto detects and starts the photo app immediately, transfer rate is very fast and then it prompts you to either keep or delete the original file on the camera. Works with RAW photos as well. Very happy.

Others have said make sure device is fully charged-makes no difference. The reader plugs straight into my HP laptop and plays all the video files contained on the card via Windows Media Player or Quicktime.
