  • Overview

An all-in-one solution, the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD lets you power your Mac, drive two 4K displays simultaneously,* and get up to 40 Gbps of super-fast data transfer with just a single cable.

In total, the dock supports one 5K display or two 4K displays. And with two built-in Thunderbolt 3 ports, you can connect your Thunderbolt 3–enabled Mac and daisy-chain up to five additional Thunderbolt devices at the same time.

For the first time, Thunderbolt 3 technology supports dual 4k displays*, letting you connect to both the DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 3 ports included on the dock. (Compatible with other USB-C video adapters such as HDMI and VGA sold separately.)

    Thunderbolt 3

Thunderbolt 3 is a truly universal port, combining the versatility of USB-C with data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps. It supports charging, high-speed PCIe data transfer, DisplayPort, VGA and HDMI (via supported adapters) — all from a single port. And it’s completely reversible, so no matter how you plug it in, it’s always the right side up.

Offering double the speed of the previous generation, Thunderbolt 3 supercharges data transfer between peripherals, leaving you with plenty of bandwidth to daisy-chain multiple high-speed devices without a hub or switch.

It looks good next to other silver Apple accessories such as the Apple Keyboard and Magic Track Pad 2. Functionally the product works well. When Docking an MacBook Pro (with ThunderBolt 3) machine to it, it is able to charge the MacBook it via the Thunderbolt 3 port, so there is no need to get out the MacBook's Charger. However, I feel that the product does not have enough USB-C/ThunderBolt 3 ports. After connecting it to the computer thus using one of the two USB Type-C/Thunderbolt ports you are only left with one free USB Type-C/Thunder port. Although there are another three USB 3.1 ports and an ethernet port, I was still wanting for more. The Display port for instance should have really been a HDMI port. I bought this for home use as I have many accessories, but suspect this will end up at work where I have fewer accessories. Saving me a few seconds in the morning as it will bundle the display cable, ethernet cable and power cable into one Thunderbolt cable for me to connect to my MacBook Pro (with Thunderbolt 3). The product comes with a regular 85w laptop charger to power the dock and the region's local power cable. But you should be able use this anywhere in the world if you get the right power cable for the charger. It is also supplied with a Thunderbolt 3 cable (approx 1m in length).

      Almost perfect

Prior to buying this, I had to use the MBP's own power supply and a TB3 to TB2 adapter to use the display. With this, I no longer need the power supply and the TB3 to TB2 is now plugged in permanently. I now only have to plug in one cable to the MBP for both power and connectivity which is exactly how a dock should work. The problems are: There are only two TB3/USB C ports and I am using both - one for the Thunderbolt display and one for the MBP. I now have three spare ports on the MBP but if you only have limited ports on your computer, this would be a problem. I think the price is a bit high for what you get.
