Why did Apple not mould the Lightning connector into the other end of the block so as to give a strong and rigid design. Most HDMI cables are heavy so inevitably the short stiff piece of cable that connects to the Lightning plug will be under bending loads however careful you are, and hence they fail early. Mine has lasted about 6 months and now cuts out if you so much as touch it - as have many other peoples if you read all the negative reviews. It actually worked very well before it started to break which is all the more frustrating. Shame on you Apple, selling expensive, poorly designed and badly made rubbish as accessories for your otherwise excellent kit. And there is no alternative source available as you have a monopoly. You should and can be so much better than this.

      Rubbish

I find it annoying that we are being forced to buy an item from a sole supplier when obviously other manufacturers can do it better (Belkin springs to mind). I I find it annoying that we are being forced to buy an item from a sole supplier when obviously other manufacturers can do it better (Belkin springs to mind). I used the adapter once and it failed on the second occasion (and I am not the only person to have this problem). So Apple, please give the licence to someone who know how to produce a reliable product and you stick to making things that you know about. (why is it not possible to give a zero star rating as that is a better reflection of the quality of this adapter?).

      Expensive failure

If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be surprised, but at over £30 for a genuine Apple product, this is just not good enough. I am now trying to get a refund/replacement but have little faith that another one will do much better, particularly having read so many recent reviews showing these failing after only hours of use. I used to think Apple produced a high quality product but my experience with this leaves me very much in doubt and I would be reluctant to spend any significant sum on any of their products if this is the level of quality I can expect.

      Such a disappointment

What a let down from Apple. Bought this from John Lewis about two years ago. Have only used it a few times but after a period of not using for quite a few month What a let down from Apple. Bought this from John Lewis about two years ago. Have only used it a few times but after a period of not using for quite a few months, desperately wanted to use it to mirror my iPad this evening. Plugged the HDMI in two different TVs, including one that it worked on the last time, but nothing showing. I felt it was too expensive when new and I have had zero value for money from a top brand. Why Apple? You should know better than to do this to loyal customers.

Could have been so much better.

It works sometimes, but presentation mode on keynote is unreliable, the adaptor gets stupidly hot when in use and something very strange happens with the power management on the ipad when it’s plugged in. By strange, I mean that the charge goes from 40% to 100% when it’s plugged in instantly. A product that needs further work before release. Unfortunately I’m finding more and more that the features and innovations of apple aren’t awlways what they seem, and although they’re super great for the average user, they simply don’t test this stuff enough for power users, business or education.

      Really bad

I am hoping the next software update will sort the glitches, even basic video that has already been download onto my iPhone X freezes when trying to play in tv.
