      Excellent keyboard

Before buying this I checked out reviews and I was undecided between buying this or the cheaper Logitech Create Keyboard. On seeing them in person the Logitech Before buying this I checked out reviews and I was undecided between buying this or the cheaper Logitech Create Keyboard. On seeing them in person the Logitech just seemed the wrong choice, it may be cheaper but it effectively turned the iPad into a laptop, which defeats the point. The Smart Keyboard is lighter and yes it doesn't add protection to the back of the iPad pro it is actually a better keyboard. It feels good when typing and unfolds in seconds, the keyboard can be detached in seconds, unlike the Logitech which takes some effort to snap out of the case. Many of the reviews say the keys on the Smart Keyboard are too noisy, that is rubbish. I bought the silicone case to protect the back. This adds a bit of weight to the iPad Pro, but not as much as Logitech Create does. The only thing I can criticise is the price, but I am not going to mark down my rating because of this, I feel I actually paid for what I have purchased. It's a great keyboard.

      Ipad pro keyboard

I was torn, knowing I should go into the shop after Christmas and properly weigh up which I should have. Curiosity got the better of me. Even though i have a mini and an air, I wanted to see the Pro, so I justified keeping the pro by ordering the smart keyboard claiming that this would be the best of both worlds. It was very annoying that there was three week wait and that no stores anywhere close by stocked them. As an impulse buyer these sort of waits really annoy me. I admit I was dubious, having had a cheaper keyboard for one of the other iPads and giving up on it after a few attempts. Also I sit back on the sofa and tend to rest the iPad on the arm of the chair. I doubted it would feel very stable and Id have to use the iPad on a tray. Despite all these concerns I am totally sold on the keyboard. It is incredibly easy to attach, you don't need to pair it, and importantly it doesn't come detached from the iPad all the time, like the smart covers tend to do on the regular iPads. It is also surprisingly stable when I am resting it on the arm of the chair. I can type away merrily on it without feeling like it might fall off any minute. For the first time, I am using an iPad for things I would usually save for when I am sat at the computer desk on the mac. I still can't decide if I should have gone for the mac book or not, though I think I would definitely have regretted choosing the iPad pro if I didn't have this keyboard. Its amazing how irritating not having a £ sign on the keyboard though. I shouldn't have to google how to bring that up and it drives me potty that I can never remember. I also think its way overpriced at £139. It would be nice if it came in different colours, though to be fair my other 2 smart covers are also grey and I did have a choice when buying them!

      Very very very poor product

Firstly, the whole thing is a bit flimsy, the keyboard is flexible and doesn't attach to the ipad in a secure way, leaving it to flap about. The magnetic docking is also a bit rubbish (the keyboard frequently gets detached from the ipad when putting in and taking out of a bag and generally opening and closing the thing. I am also suffering from the problems that many others are experiencing 'device not supported' and too often the thing doesn't work. To cap it all off, it's £169 which is £50 more than the Logitech offering and considering you can get a good quality Bluetooth keyboard for about £30 I fail to see why this poorly designed, poorly manufactured and overpriced product is a worthwhile purchase. It seems to me that Apple are great at making phones, computers and ipads but absolutely terrible at making accessories. Up your game Apple !

      Really wish it worked

When it works, it’s great. But too often I get the “accessory not supported” error message and it won’t recognize the keyboard at all. Too buggy to be useful.

Great product spoilt by poor quality control

The keyboard is an excellent design and when it works allows me to now attend meetings with just my iPad, leaving my MacBook back in the office. The problem is Apples Quality Control, or lack of it. The first keyboard failed within 10 months, and I was lucky enough to be in support so it was replaced without question. Despite the fact that I was in the US when it failed and I bought it in the UK. So BIG Plus to Apple for that. However my second keyboard also started to fail around 4 months ago with the dreaded Device Not Supported error, and a quick Internet search will reveal that this is not an uncommon problem. As I intend to replace my iPad this year I do not want to fork out another £169 for a faulty product that will most likely not fit on the new iPad, so I have lived with the problem for the last 4 months. I have tried all of the suggested fixes on-line, some work, some don't and as there is no discernible pattern to the failures I just have to live with it and hope that the keyboard works when I am in a meeting and need to use it. Fix the quality and this is a solid 5 star product. I nearly gave it 1 star, but at the end of the day it is a good product let down by poor quality control - or maybe a design flaw.
