Steering Wheels

While it’s better to play a racing game with a gamepad than with your keyboard, a steering wheel is the way to go if you really want to immerse yourself in Need For Speed: Carbon, Redline, and Colin McRae Rally Mac, or any of the other similar titles available. With racing games offering more realistic graphics and gameplay, a steering wheel completes the experience. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself gripping it until your knuckles turn white while negotiating a tricky turn.

A typical steering wheel comes with floor pedals for the gas and brake, as well as buttons that you can map to various game functions, such as switching to a rear view and checking out your pursuers or toggling various cockpit displays on and off. Many of them also come with force feedback. This feature allows you to literally feel every bump and jolt whether your car lightly nudges another or becomes involved in a high-speed crash.

NASCAR Racing Season 2002 and 2003, as well as F1 Championship Season, are among the many games that feature a force feedback option. Logitech’s MOMO Racing Force Feedback Steering Wheel is a solid racing peripheral that offer force feedback as well as realistic touches, such as gas and brake pedals and a rubber-covered steering wheel.
