As described, but beware of bad drivers

This adapter gets the job done. However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunatel This adapter gets the job done. However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunately the Apple review system won't let me paste links, but if you google "rtl8153 driver update time" the first link (in my search results) takes you to a download page. I am finding it particularly useful to transfer, using migration assistant, data over to my new 2016 MacBook Pro via Time Machine which is hard-wired to my network (it's a first gen 1TB model). My time machine backup consists of data from my older 2009 17inch MacBook Pro. Initially I tried using Migration Assistant to transfer Mac to Mac using a direct ethernet connection between the two devices, but I was unable to complete that transfer. However now that I am transferring an account all all its programs and data via time Machine to my new MacBook Pro, the process is running much smoother. Because I am using the Belkin Ethernet adapter, I am getting consistent transfer speeds between 14 MB a second and 20 MB a second. I am very pleased.
