Best Answer:
Yes, provided your Mac is supported by El Capitan.
As an aside, any Mac that can run OS 10.9 ( Yes, provided your Mac is supported by El Capitan.
As an aside, any Mac that can run OS 10.9 (Mavericks) or OS 10.10 (Yosemite) can also run OS 10.11 (El Capitan). But for Macs running OS 10.7 (Lion) and OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion), one needs to check whether El Capitan can support those Macs.
Most Macs released in last 5+ years are supported by El Capitan. Including:
iMac (Mid-2007 or newer)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or newer), (15-inch, Mid / Late 2007 or newer), (17-inch, Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
Another way to find out . . . try downloading and installing. The installer should tell you if El Capitan can not be installed on your Mac. …- Answered by Ewald W from Vancouver

Those are not included in the retail 10.6.3 Snow Leopard OS X DVD.
You can search for bundled thr Those are not included in the retail 10.6.3 Snow Leopard OS X DVD.
You can search for bundled three part sets that include iLife '11, iWorks
'09, and Snow Leopard 10.6.3 in a retail kit; I saw where Amazon reseller
has the kit listed for $33. (old version) so if you are going to stop at
Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (see software update once this OS X is installed)
with an older computer, then that would be the kit to get.
Later OS X version would get the parts of iWorks, or iLife, from App Store
online; purchase likely is required for the later versions, after Snow Leopard.
You can (as of information on 13 July 2016) still buy the 10.6.3 retail DVD
of Snow Leopard online (again) as the listing has re-appeared. Also the
Lion 10.7 listing in the online Apple Store (a redemption/download code)
is back. I've not tried to buy any of those; but it helps to see the active links.
Apple Store (US) shows Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.3 DVD at $19.99 again.
Good luck in whatever you choose. :) …- Answered by Kevin S from Anchorage
