Works, but make sure you get Apple's 29W USB-C charger

The cable achieves 29W charging at 14.5V / 2A. In my testing, I discharged my IPP to 10% and connected the cable. In 2.5 hours, it reached 100% charge! This is extremely fast, and exactly what you need if you often use your IPP to do long stretches of work or media consumption.

A convenience product for wired synchronisation

The USB-C to lightning will serve them well. It's a durable cable and is compact so it can easily be thrown into a messenger bag or organisation case for your laptop enabling iPhone to Macbook connection should you desire to do so. Excellent product works as advertised and has survived many flights where as many fliers will agree that even those who care greatly for their products and maintain them cannot always escape the rigours of cargo handling or the hustle and bustle of the frequent flyer. Won't be necessary for many people but for times when wireless isn't available, piggy back charging is needed, or simply the convenience and speed of a cable is needed this product will do the job well for Macbook owners.

      Poor quality material

However Apple seems to be using a poor quality material for this cable (and the cables for its other product lines, e.g. MacBook Pro charger, MacBook Pro power cord, Airport Express power cord). The cable has a slightly rough finish to it, and it feels like a fine residue of plastic remains on your hand if you run your hand along the cable. It does not have a smooth finish like basically every other plastic cable on the market! It becomes more noticeable as the product ages, too. Apple, PLEASE STOP

      Defective

The lightning connector is defective: it only makes contact in the phone if pressed in very hard. Then it often loses contact after some seconds or minutes. So the phone rarely charges fully with this cable. I have no problems with the phone connected from an old USB-A cable to my older Mac computer. I had read of similar defect with discount USB-A to lightning cables bought at Amazon. But I never before heard of this defect with a cable bought from Apple.
