Siri Remote

  • Overview

Built specifically for the new Apple TV, the Siri Remote puts you in complete control. With Siri, simply use your voice to find what you want to watch. You can also use your finger on the Touch surface to interact with the new Apple TV. Swipe left or right. Up or down. You have all-new ways to navigate the new Apple TV quickly and easily. However, Apple TV can only connect to one remote at a time. If you wish to play multiple player games, you’ll need an iOS device or controller.

Unfortunately, the Siri remote included is pretty fragile. If you have ceramic tile in your home, beware! After only two weeks of ownership, a 2-foot drop onto the tile has shattered the glass track pad on our remote. The Siri function still works, and we loved it, but we will be using our old remote for the time being. The Siri remote remote is way too fragile for the average home. I will perhaps purchase a new one when a case or a hardier remote is available.

      WILL COMPLETELY SHATTER IF DROPPED

Love the Apple TV. Loved the new remote's cool features. DO NOT love the fact that my 19 mo old son dropped the remote on the floor and it completely shattered. Love the Apple TV. Loved the new remote's cool features. DO NOT love the fact that my 19 mo old son dropped the remote on the floor and it completely shattered. He is 31 in tall so it couldn't have dropped more than 18-24 inches. This is insane! Apple, WHY would you make a REMOTE out of GLASS??? Ever heard of KIDS and that they DROP things??? Heck, I'm 32 years old and I drop things all the time. It's pure carelessness on your part to make such a sensitive and fragile product.

      Mediocre

Rewind the tape to 2007, when Apple told us that buttons are redundant with the introduction of the iPhone. That's still true today. However, for whatever inane Rewind the tape to 2007, when Apple told us that buttons are redundant with the introduction of the iPhone. That's still true today. However, for whatever inane reason, Apple decided to ship a product with a bunch of buttons in 2015, most of which are not only pointless (all of this has already been solved with touch/screen interactions on iOS) but also detract from the usability and intuitiveness. The obvious solution would have been to ship an all-touch product, presumably with a single button under the touch surface, like the Magic Mouse. Not only would this have made it a far, far better and more versatile controller for apps in general and games in particular, but it would also make it more future-proof. The remote is not only hard to use (which way is up, which is down, which button should I use for what) but really fragile. I own an ungodly amount of Apple products and this is easily the worst.

There is no tactile marks on the remote so when you pick it up its always backwards. I dropped mine from the bed to a wooden floor and it shattered glass all over the floor. Leave it on your night stand and if accidentally touch it the TV turns on. I see a class action lawsuit in the making. Very poor design that is dangerous when the glass is all over the floor.

I have 7 kids from age 7 to 18 years old and have not had one problem, The remote is sweet no problems just teach your kids to be gentle and not drop or throw the remote. We own several Apple products and love them all.
