  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

I was trained by the US Military in electronics on combat weapons and those systems are taken to the extremes. I have spent over 27 years in some form of Government and although I was not an Apple fan at first I will be the first one to praise them for their quality. I been using Apple since 2010 and never had an issue that was not caused by extreme measures. I have used my chargers around the world and in some of the harshest environments without failure. With that being said my son has ruin and destroyed two chargers in a period of a year and half. I "tried" to explain what he was doing wrong but like most teenagers he just blew me off. After the second charger was damaged I made him buy his third charger with his own money and after 2 years it is still functioning correctly and still looks good. Great Work Apple. Ed

      No Problems

However you have to provide it a little more consideration than some other cords. I have broken 2 by my own fault as one I twisted too tight around the built in holder and the other my 8 year old autistic son broke after 6 months of hard use. Look apple can't be blamed for moves like that. In fact the genius bar would have replaced the first one under warranty but I don't play that way. So for my money the product is fine, and I'll put my 15 bucks a month away and replace the charger if I need too, I waste more money than that on coffee.

      Very Great and Durable Product

I am not sure Daniela is talking about. I've been using the same power adapter for the 4 years I have had my laptop without incident. Sure, $79.00 is a bit steap for a replacement, but t will not break from normal use (I am still using the one that came in the box with my laptop). As long as you are not a child, dog, or Daniela and know how to properly handle things there should be no problems. Great Product!

This is really disappointing and considering the price that we have paid for this product Apple should do something for their customers.

      Poor Product

I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you ar I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.
