Oracle Certifies Mac Client On Oracle E-Business Suite

First Internet-Enabled Solution Certified for Mac OS 9, Coming to Mac OS X

REDWOOD SHORES, and CUPERTINO, Calif.—Nov. 8, 2000—( Oracle Corp., the largest provider of software for e-business, and Apple® today announced certification of the Apple Macintosh® client on the OracleE-Business Suite, the industry's first application suite that supports all key business functions from enterprise to campus. This certification makes the Oracle E-Business Suite the first suite of Internet-enabled applications available to Apple customers. The Oracle E-Business Suite supports Mac® OS 9 today, and is scheduled to be available in 2001 for Mac OS X, Apple's next generation operating system.
Oracle and Apple will conduct a series of joint e-business initiatives in key Apple market segments, including education and small business. For the education market, they plan to embark on a higher education seminar series to the top 100 colleges and universities to showcase the technology. In addition, Oracle plans to incorporate the Mac as one of the standard sales demonstration platforms for the Oracle E-Business Suite. For small business, Oracle and Apple will jointly promote Oracle's hosted online services, including Oracle Business Online and Using only a browser, Apple customers can be up and running on Oracle Business Online or within minutes and have immediate access to enterprise business applications and sales automation capabilities.

The Oracle E-Business Suite is a full suite of Web and Java-based applications that allow companies to put their customer interactions, internal operations and supply chain on-line, and enables quick linkages with both suppliers and customers for a seamless business process. With this Macintosh client certification, Apple customers will now be able to access the Oracle E-Business Suite using the Macintosh browser and MRJ (Apple Macintosh Runtime for Java). Additionally, Oracle support services have been expanded to support the Macintosh client, providing reliability, availability and overall satisfaction for customers.
The Oracle E-Business Suite is currently available for Mac OS 9.0.4 with MRJ 2.2.3. Certification and support for the upcoming Mac OS X is scheduled for 2001.
