Apple Announces AppleWorks 6.2 for Mac OS X

CUPERTINO, California—July 2, 2001—Apple® today announced AppleWorks® 6.2for Mac® OS X, an update to Apple’s award-winning productivity softwarebuilt for Mac OS X, Apple’s revolutionary new operating system. AppleWorks6.2 takes advantage of Mac OS X for stability and responsiveness whilemultiple applications are running, and the ability to automatically create adocument in PDF format for viewing and sharing over the Internet. Inaddition, AppleWorks 6.2 includes DataViz file translators, allowing usersto easily open, save and share Microsoft Word and Excel documents.

AppleWorks combines word processing, page layout, image manipulation,spreadsheets, databases and presentations in a single application. To helpusers easily and effectively express their ideas, AppleWorks provides userswith direct access to a dynamic library of Internet-based templates thatassist in the creation of professional looking documents, such asnewsletters, business cards, mailing labels and party invitations. Inaddition, AppleWorks features enhanced formatting tools that enableone-click integration of text, spreadsheet, images and movies into a singledocument.
System Requirements & Availability
AppleWorks 6.2 includes a version for Mac OS X and a version for Mac OS 8.1or later. Minimum system requirements for all include a PowerPC-equippedMac, 24MB of physical RAM with virtual memory set to at least 25MB, CD-ROMor DVD-ROM, QuickTime® and an optional Internet connection for accessingInternet-based templates.
AppleWorks 6.2 will be immediately available through The Apple Store®(, at Apple’s retail stores and through Authorized AppleResellers for a suggested retail price of $79 (US). AppleWorks 6.2 isavailable as a free update to AppleWorks 6 owners
