Swisscom and Apple to Bring iPhone 3G to Switzerland on July 11
ZURICH and SAN FRANCISCO—June 9, 2008—Swisscom, the leading mobile operator in Switzerland, and Apple® today announced the highly anticipated iPhone™ 3G will be available in Switzerland on July 11. iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast* as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.

Swisscom offers customers a high-performing mobile broadband network. The company operates a HSPA network that covers 90 percent of the Swiss population, a best-in-class figure. Swisscom customers can browse the Internet almost everywhere in Switzerland with up to 7.2 Mbps, comparable to current speeds in the wired world. In addition, Swisscom offers its customers broadband coverage via EDGE technology where HSPA is not yet available - anywhere and at anytime. With more than 1,100 hotspots nationwide, in hotels, conference centers, train stations and airports, Swisscom is also the biggest Wi-Fi provider in Switzerland and additionally an important Wi-Fi operator in Europe.
