Overview

The Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad features an elegant, ultrathin anodized aluminum enclosure with low-profile keys that provide a crisp, responsive feel. Great new keyboard

Apple has another hit on their hands and is definitely on a roll. I replaced my original apple keyboard with the new one for my Mac Pro since the original did Apple has another hit on their hands and is definitely on a roll. I replaced my original apple keyboard with the new one for my Mac Pro since the original did not have a crisp enough key stroke...it seemed "mushy" sometimes...but now....amazing!

Apple New Wired Keyboard

Hooked up the new keyboard today and its is a real site to behold. Very thin and lite weight. The new key design has a great feel and very large keys so you d Hooked up the new keyboard today and its is a real site to behold. Very thin and lite weight. The new key design has a great feel and very large keys so you don't make many mistakes. THE ONE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT IS the two usb ports will not support an ipod. I have the video Ipod and I get a warning that the USB power is too low to power the attached device. I bought this key board to clear away clutter on my desk and hopefully eliminate a few cords. Unfortunately its not true and I was disappointed. I am very much an apple fan but the low USB ports were a not as advertised on the website.

AMAZING...but....

Well, on the OS X side this is the best keyboard I've ever had. Took a little while to get the feel of it, but now it's second-nature. Once problem...Boot Cam Well, on the OS X side this is the best keyboard I've ever had. Took a little while to get the feel of it, but now it's second-nature. Once problem...Boot Camp. This little baby uses Function keys for audio up and down and brightness, and Vista really didn't like it. Sadly, I'm going to have to keep using my old keyboard until they update BootCamp to work with this new keyboard. That's why I'm only giving three stars. Otherwise, it'd be a full FIVE, baby! :-)

This is a great keyboard, but do your maintenance!

This keyboard works wonderfully, but you do have to perform routine maintenance periodically in order for it to continue to work well. It is very responsive This keyboard works wonderfully, but you do have to perform routine maintenance periodically in order for it to continue to work well. It is very responsive and actuators are made for years and years of use. I have had this keyboard for 4 years and it is still going strong with no signs of giving up anytime soon. But I do the maintenance to keep it working well. I know a few people who had problems with this keyboard version and the first question I would ask them is: How long has it been since you vacuumed out the keyboard. their answer: "huh.." Real Answer: You should vacuum out the keyboard every 3 months at a minimum. Take a small hand vac (with the computer turned off) and run it across the keys (not pressing the keys down) Reason: there are small cracks where dust, small hairs, etc. will fall into (just like any other keyboard) and you don't realize how much accumulates over the weeks but if you never vac your keyboard then the gunk just accumulates eventually being forced further and further into the mechanism until keys start to stick and then get stuck in an up or down position where pressing they key does nothing. question #2: Have you ever spilled water, soda, beer, etc on your keyboard. answer "yeah, but I wiped it off and plugged it in and it worked fine." duh, it worked fine because the liquid hadn't made it's ways to the mechanism. By continuing to use the keyboard you worked the liquid down further into the mechanism. the liquid then dried (if it was beer or soda) and left a compound that was detrimental to the mechanism and over time corroded that area of the components. Spill something on the keyboard? Flip it over immediately, place it on a towel and let it sit where there is good airflow for 24 hours (no less!) so the liquid can dry without you working it into the keyboard components. if you spilled too much or didn't turn it over immediately this may have no effect, but it's your best chance at saving the component. My computer won't recognize my keyboard. Is it plugged directly into the mac or into a hub. answer: a hub. if it's not a powered hub or doesn't have fully usb compliant hardware then it may not communicate all data through to the mac resulting in it being unidentifiable.

On 3rd keyboard in 2 years

This keyboard works great…for a minute. First one, immediately would only work intermittently w the Thunderbolt I bought at the same time. Because of the timing This keyboard works great…for a minute. First one, immediately would only work intermittently w the Thunderbolt I bought at the same time. Because of the timing, I assumed it was the Thunderbolt, so I brought it into the Genius Bar to be told it was fine and must be the keyboard. This was confirmed when I replaced that brand new keyboard to have it work fine the first few weeks, but then after those first few weeks... Now every time I restart my laptop (connected to the Thunderbolt screen which in turn connects the keyboard to the MacBook Pro) or re-plug in my laptop from being away, it does not work. Every time. I have to unplug it, plug it into a different port, wait 15-20 seconds to see if it acknowledges it, rinse and repeat about a dozen times until it finally sees it again. Today, after playing the above game for 1.5 years, it just stopped working altogether, even when plugged into my laptop directly or the iMac. Back to the Apple store I go for my THIRD keyboard in less than 3 years. If this third keyboard has the same connectivity issue, I will be returning it and going non-Mac moving forward. A shame, as if you take away the connection issues, it feels great, has a good bounce to the keys and a nice texture on the surface.

2015 MacBook Pro 13 Retina does recognize this keyboard

Not even the latest 2015 MacBook Pro 13 Retina with El Capitan does recognize this keyboard in System Preferences - Keyboard - Change Keyboard Type and returns Not even the latest 2015 MacBook Pro 13 Retina with El Capitan does recognize this keyboard in System Preferences - Keyboard - Change Keyboard Type and returns "Your keyboard cannot be identified.".

i just found out that if you press the 'Fn" key in conjunction with the arrow keys this works.. F i just found out that if you press the 'Fn" key in conjunction with the arrow keys this works.. Fn+Left/Right arrows = Home & End Fn+Up/Down Keys = Pg Up & Pg Down

Unfortunately that answer does not work. Going to App shortcuts allows you to assign F19 for example Unfortunately that answer does not work. Going to App shortcuts allows you to assign F19 for example but does not give you an action for F19. I can title it TAB for instance but cannot assign the Tab key to F19.
