Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter (for MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro)

  • Overview

    The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

    When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

    Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

    This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

      Power adaptors do not last

      Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. S Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

      Dear Apple

      I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though. I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple yea I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though. I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it. But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months. Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are "no known issues" with the L-style magsafe adapter. Oh really? Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month! I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. For a PC.

      New and Better than the Old MagSafe

      I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the b I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple)

      It has been just 2 years, then I need to buy a new one with $79 plus tax. Please make it better or cheaper !       Agreeing with everyone else, these chargers break all the time! Either make them better or make them cheaper!!!!!

      Still works after 6 years of use

      I still have the original Magsafe Power Adapter from when I bought my mid-2010 13" MacBook new about 6 years ago. Yes, there have been a few problems, occasiona I still have the original Magsafe Power Adapter from when I bought my mid-2010 13" MacBook new about 6 years ago. Yes, there have been a few problems, occasionally with it, but I was able to solve that with a quick tech support call to apple care. Other than that, it has never failed me, even after years of traveling with my MacBook and taking it back and forth to college. About a year ago, the wire casing (covering the wires) right under the part that plugs into the computer broke, due to my own negligence, I think. To my surprise, even with exposed wires, the Magsafe power adapter is still working perfectly. I have since wrapped it in electric tape and continued using it, I have now decided to replace it, only because I have gotten tired of having to rewrap the cord in electrical tape and because a few of the exposed wires are bent, which makes me think that it has gotten somewhat unsafe to use now. But, the cord and wires have NEVER gotten hot or even warm and my laptop gets used daily.
