I have an Apple Hard Drive that I had taken out of my Imac when I upgraded it. I have used it as an external hard drive for the past few years. It works perfectly with my 2014 Imac, but I just bought a new Mac Mini M1 and it won't connect to it. It doesn't show in Finder, but does show in Disk Utility. I can click on the drive and all the buttons are available except for the mount button so I can't access the drive. My Imac is running Catalina and the new Mini is running Monterey....
After a momentary power interruption this morning, my external hard drive (on which I have a Time Machine backup) does not mount and does not appear in Finder. (It is a LaCie 2TB USB drive.) The device is recognized in System Information and Disk Utility, but an attempt to mount it in Disk Utility returns this error message: Could not mount “disk2s2”. Ever since the latest OS update on my Macbook Pro 16 inch, 2019 it has broken my ability to install anything new (from .DMG and .PKG files). I've done some basic fault finding and have found: Disk Image Mounter doesn't seem to exist anymore, Opening images in Disk utility will let me mount a file, but then it just shows a bunch of .PKG files and no installer (have tried multiple different downloaded files from multiple approved sources) Right-clicking and selecting other apps to open DMG files...
