Q: How do I make my iMac stop closing everything (apps) and loosing all my work when it goes to sleep and logs out (which helps save the display so I want it to sleep/log out like it used to WITHOUT closing all the apps)?

Every time my computer goes to sleep it closes every single app and I lose all of the work and the pages!  before the update, my computer would go to sleep and when I would unlock and log back in, everything was where I left it. Now when my computer goes to sleep and logs out it closes everything! This was never an issue before the update. Now I am being told in order to stop it from logging out I have to stop it from going to sleep ! That is not good for the computer  Display and I like to know...

Aperture: Avoid putting the computer to sleep while shooting tethered

It's a good idea to avoid putting your computer to sleep while shooting tethered in Aperture or Image Capture. If the computer does go to sleep during a tethered session, your camera may no longer be detected, and it may be necessary to quit and reopen the application, unplug the camera and reconnect it. To adjust the sleep settings for your Mac:...

Q: LG 27UD88 4K Wake from Sleep Issues

I have a 2017 Macbook Pro 13inch with Touch Bar connected to two LG27UD88 displays.  I constantly have wake from sleep issues.  The external displays will stay black and not wake properly after extended periods (5+ hours/overnight).  The only real way I've been able to remedy the situation is to reboot the machine.   Most of the time when I open the laptop out of clamshell its display will also not wake up, unless I disconnect the external displays.   I am able to occasionally avoid the issue...

Q: OS crash while sleeping

This is a semi-consistent crash that ::appears:: to happen whenever the computer is asleep, thought that may be an unrelated coincidence. That being said, I have turned off the automatic sleep mode and the crashes don't appear to happen after I step away. I continue to put my computer to sleep at the end of my work day using the button on the back of the machine, and when I come in the next morning my computer has to go through the reboot process and all of my apps show file recovery messages...

Q: How do I get my windows/tabs to stay up, the re-open upon the sleeping and login process?

I am having trouble with my windows/tabs closing every time my computer goes to sleep . It is very frustrating, as I have read many forums and questions and don't seem to have a solid solution.   For example, I can be working on 6 different things at a time and have multiple windows open. When I leave work for the day, I want to only put my computer to sleep and not close my windows (so I don't lose track of where I left off). Yet every time my computer goes to sleep , upon logging in the next...

Q: MacBook Pro discharging even when sleeping AND turned OFF

Hello! I have a brand new MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports, no touch bar) with High Sierra 10.13.6 (latest) and I have noticed a very uncommon problem with the battery: it discharges a little bit when totally switched off and a little bit more when in sleep mode.   I have seen that Handoff and sometimes a "sharingd" process or daemon prevents the computer to sleep , but when totally shut down that would just be ridiculous!   Somebody here with the same problem or - even better...

Q: iMac shuts down after sleep and 10.13.6 update

My iMac 12,2 (Mid 2011) stays black for several seconds (up to 20) after sleep , then I can login normally. Apparently. After 20-60 seconds my iMac turns off suddenly for a couple of secs then turns on again. Happens maybe one time by 3, and that is weird.  Looks like a Kernel Panic without any message on screen. I thought to do a plain reinstall the whole system on an external drive. Resetting SMC. Zapping PRAM. Nothing changed. This all only after 10.13.6 update of macOS High Sierra...

Q: iMac 2017 will not wake from sleep.

Hello, My 2017 iMac will occasionally refuse to wake from sleep using the keyboard, mouse or even power button. The only way to get the machine to turn back on is to hold down the power button to do a hard shutdown. I tried to reset the SMC and PRAM and I am still encountering the problem. Andy ideas? Thanks...

Q: Sleep issue with MacBook Pro Touch Bar

This has been driving me crazy! Loosing 50% of battery charge on the commute from work to home. It sometimes gets so hot that I have to take the laptop out of my backpack and out of its case so it can cool down.   As you can see, over the course of 2 hours that it is supposed to be in sleep mode, it tries to do something (I don't quite know what) every 5 minuets. It's the same thing over and over again with some other stuff in between that I did not include here.   From the system.log: Aug  3...
