You can upgrade at an Apple Store anytime after six months, as long as you’ve made the equivalent of at least 12 payments.

What if I don’t want to upgrade my iPhone?

You’re under no obligation to upgrade, and after 24 payments, the iPhone is yours. You can also upgrade your iPhone with carrier financing or purchase a new iPhone at full price.

My iPhone is damaged. Can I upgrade it?

AppleCare+ is included with the iPhone Upgrade Program, so you get up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a service fee of $29 for screen damage or $99 for any other damage, plus applicable tax. You can pay the incident fee when you upgrade at the Apple Store.

Can someone else upgrade my iPhone on my behalf?

Yes. The person who upgrades your iPhone will be responsible for starting a new iPhone Upgrade Program loan agreement.

What happens to my carrier plan when I upgrade?

You can select a new wireless carrier or keep the one you have. We’ll activate your iPhone on your choice of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. However, your iPhone will remain unlocked, so you can use it with other carriers in the future.

What happens to my current AppleCare+ and my loan when I upgrade?

Your current AppleCare+ plan will be canceled and your loan will be closed when you upgrade. If you’re continuing with the iPhone Upgrade Program, you’ll have a new loan and new AppleCare+ plan for your new iPhone.
