Magic Trackpad 2 - Space Gray

Need some help?
  • Overview

Now in a Space Gray finish. Magic Trackpad 2 is rechargeable with a built-in battery and brings Force Touch to the desktop for the first time. Four force sensors underneath the trackpad surface allow you to click anywhere, and detect subtle differences in the amount of pressure you apply, bringing increased functionality to your fingertips and enabling a deeper connection to your content. Magic Trackpad 2 also features an edge-to-edge glass surface area that is nearly 30 percent larger than the previous trackpad. This design, along with a lower profile, makes scrolling and swiping through your favorite content more productive and comfortable than ever.

Magic Trackpad 2 pairs automatically with your Mac, so you can get to work right away. And the battery will power your Magic Trackpad 2 for about a month or more before needing a recharge.

      Love the Magic Trackpad!!!!

I will never go back to a mouse. I use Apple pro apps a lot (FCPX, Motion, LPX, Compressor) and love working with the Magic Trackpad 2 with these. Speed, accu I will never go back to a mouse. It's a good size, too — plenty of space to work with on the trackpad, but it doesn't take up too much space on my desk. I've been using it for about three months. Unfortunately, the bluetooth connection has gotten very spotty in the last month or so (even with literally nothing but 18 inches of air between the trackpad and the computer). Typically, when my 2018 iMac wakes from sleep, the Apple bluetooth keyboard connects but this trackpad does not — despite being charged and switched on. The bluetooth utility searches and searches, eventually finds the trackpad, but fails to connect for reasons that are not clear. Sometimes, it drops the bluetooth connection to the keyboard, but that is less frequent and it seems to pick that up again fairly quickly. I think this problem is linked to a software update, so hopefully Apple will fix it in the future. Most of the time, I have to plug in the trackpad to use it at all, which is disappointing for a product that is supposed to be wireless. On balance, then, I'd say it's way overpriced for a wired device. Don't buy it until Apple fixes its bluetooth connectivity problems.

Battery lasts for weeks until it needs a recharge, connectivity is quick and easy, and the gestures make working a lot easier. Its very accurate and responsive. I recommend this to anyone who wants an upgrade from a mouse for work.

I loved the design and operation, but last week it just died, refused to charge, and is now a pretty brick. Apple online tech was courteous & knowledegable. He took over my screen, poked around, and said it was Most Sincerely Dead. There's no way to tell if the unit is charging unless you're in Trackpad Preferences, but if its not charged or charging, its not "discoverable" and won't show up in Preferences! Bit of a Catch-22 design flaw there-put a little green light somewhere on the unit! Guess I'm back to Magic Mouse, which isn't nearly as graceful a product, but at least its working. In all, the internal battery idea is wonderful, but oughta last more than 4 months longer than the warranty period - or Apple should offer a Trackpad Applecare extension.

I am also well over 6' tall so I keep my laptop on a stand to get it at a height comfortable for my neck. I bought the Magic Trackpad 2 in hopes that it would allow me to seamlessly interact with my laptop while set on a stand without having to reach up for it's trackpad every time, which also causes a more serious bend in my wrist. The Magic Trackpad did just that. I've yet to have an issue with bluetooth, and I often have the Magic Trackpad + UE BOOM Speaker + business phone running through my laptops Bluetooth at once. Magic Trackpad connects quickly and stays connected. Couldn't give you a solid time on battery life, but I've used mine on a single charge making thousands of minute changes to CAD docs for 7+ hours straight with no issues whatsoever and it didn't even said battery low. MOST IMPORTANTLY it retains all of the functions of the laptop trackpad - clicking, right clicking, swiping, zooming, dashboard, control panel, etc. GREAT PRODUCT

I really prefer using a trackpad, and this seems to work exactly like the builtin trackpad - same sensitivity, gestures, etc. I don't notice any lag, spurious clicks, or any of the problems a few others seem to claim. It did originally take me a little time to get used to the force touch and gestures with the builtin trackpad, but really this seems to work just the same. No question it's expensive and the possible need for another adapter is annoying, but as far as working well this is great!
