Nice idea, poor execution, damages Mac Pro enclosure

The problem is, there's a rubber piece inside designed to cushion the bottom lip of the Mac Pro's niche where the ports are. That rubber is far too tough, meaning in order to compress the two pieces together enough so that the security cable can fit into the slot, you need a pair of strong pliers, or incredibly strong fingers. Two adults were unable to put this together by hand using one person to press the 2-piece adapter together with both hands and one to insert the security cable. And the attempts created permanent damage on the underside of the (new) Mac Pro, where the metal of the adapter digs into the enclosure of the Mac Pro by design. I was able to make the adapter work with a pair of locking pliers (significantly scratching the adapter), and that’s why this is a 2-star review and not lower. Now whenever I work away from home I have to have the pliers with me or I won’t be able to lock or unlock my computer. I expect better from Apple.

I had to use an xacto knife to peel the pad off the metal and subsequently slice it in half so it would be much thinner. After reapplying the pad, tha adaptor fits properly but it is annoying to have to retrofit this small thing especially after spending almost $50 on it.

      Works Great!

I found no problem fitting the lock to my Mac Pro! It took <5 seconds to manipulate the fingers to get them up into the housing. On first try it looked like I found no problem fitting the lock to my Mac Pro! It took <5 seconds to manipulate the fingers to get them up into the housing. On first try it looked like it was going to be tight because the fingers don't automatically slide into place. But with a little care I found a sweet spot and it all came together nicely. Works great with a double locking cable I already had!

      It works!

I was reading about the rubber thickness but the lock works if you place it carefully in the slot. just a little pressure and it should fit.

      Amazing lock

I almost didn't buy it due to some negative reviews. Honestly, this lock couldn't be more simple. The trick is to lay the Mac Pro on it's side (I put it on my sweater), and then apply the two sides of the lock. You don't need to open the Mac Pro or anything. Really well worth it. Took 2 minutes.

Lock doesn't fit well, hard to attach.

I found that the rubber padding on the interior of the lock is too thick, making it very difficult to install onto the computer.
