iPhone Lightning Dock – Space Gray

  • Overview

Available in five metallic finishes, the iPhone Lightning Dock perfectly matches your iPhone. Choose from black, space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.

You can use it to charge and sync any iPhone that has a Lightning connector. Your iPhone sits upright in the dock as it syncs or charges, so it’s ideal for a desk or countertop. Even when your iPhone is in an Apple-designed case, it’s easy to dock. And you can unlock iPhone or use Touch ID without having to remove it from the dock.

Here are some ways you can use the iPhone Lightning Dock:

Connect the dock to your computer with the USB cable (included with your iPhone) to sync iPhone and charge its battery.

Connect the dock to an electrical outlet using the Apple USB Power Adapter (included with your iPhone) to charge the battery.

Place your iPhone in the dock and enjoy clear audio during speakerphone calls.

Connect your headphones to the dock so you can listen to music while you sync and charge.

Connect the dock to powered speakers or a stereo using a 3.5 mm cable (sold separately) to play music and podcasts from your iPhone.

Sure, it just holds the phone upright but now I can use my iPhone as a bedside clock and that's really the only reason I purchased it. If you're looking for something more sexy and perhaps more useful then look at the non-Apple offerings. Either way, the goal may end up being the same and that is to simply hold the phone upright.

However, the lightning plug that sticks up above the dock is not a very functional design. It is tough to accurately dock your phone and the phone does not stay very stable in the dock. It rotates from side, because it is not supported by anything other than the plug. I guess Apple designed it this way to be compatible with their cases, however a sunken-in design would have been more stable and easy to use (but less friendly with cases). I'll be looking to a 3rd party dock to use now.

      Day 1 five stars...

I am a huge dock fan with Apple but also don't pull punches with Apple. They are failing left and right with many issues. However, I bought two of these since I am a huge dock fan with Apple but also don't pull punches with Apple. They are failing left and right with many issues. However, I bought two of these since I just noticed that they are available, finally! I was skeptical of the design when I first looked at it here but realized after reading that they will fit the iPhone with an APPLE case, I realized the reason for the "suspended in air" attachment. Anyone with a lick of common sense can see that this is where the case will be the weakest, if at all. After reading the reviews here and seeing that the docks failed after one day, I'm weary of my new purchase, at over $100.00 for just two of these. But mine is fine and enjoyable so far. Hooked up one next to my bed. The other is here next to my iMac. I love the weight. They are heavy for their size which is nice. I don't know if you can make them heavier unless you use depleted uranium! So, as long as these don't fail, the color is nice. Weight is better than the previous white ones. Function works for the moment. I have the Apple leather case which "snaps" onto the back and it fits as designed by Apple. I hope this suspended in the air method does not make the lightening connection fail like some reviewers have stated in their posts. For now, I'm very happy with them.

Not for use with a protective case

This was the one viable solution that was already on the market at the release of the iPhone 7. Despite the description that it's "fully case compatible," the added space of the moderately protective Otterbox Symmetry was too much for it. Some different adapters to accommodate differently sized cases would be a welcomed fix to this product. Meanwhile, how about a simple Y-adapter to allow both functions at once, please.

Beautifully designed, not suited for one hand operation

I bought this so that I can have my iPhone 6s connected to my mac while also being able to test my apps during development. While the dock itself is beautifully I bought this so that I can have my iPhone 6s connected to my mac while also being able to test my apps during development. While the dock itself is beautifully designed and has enough heft to keep the iPhone in place without toppling over, trying to do anything with it while it is docked is a bit of a disappointment. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the iPhone keeps moving side to side if you try to use it when docked. I might have to stick some foam spacers on either side of the dock connector just to prevent it from moving around. But if your needs are only to charge it when in the dock, it probably will work fine as designed.
