iPhone XS Max Smart Battery Case - Black

  • Overview

Engineered for iPhone XS Max, the Smart Battery Case gives you even longer battery life while offering great protection. Inside, a soft microfiber lining helps protect your iPhone. And on the outside, the silky, soft-touch finish of the silicone exterior feels great in your hand. A soft elastomer hinge design makes it easy to put the case on and take it off.

The Smart Battery Case is compatible with Qi-certified chargers. You can charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time up to 37 hours, Internet use up to 20 hours, and even longer audio and video playback.* With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.

The case can be charged even faster with USB-PD compatible chargers. It also supports Lightning accessories, such as the EarPods with Lightning Connector (included with your iPhone), or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter (sold separately).

The design has improved with speaker and mic holes now aligned with the device, battery that extends towards the bottom, and lack of a “chin” at the bottom. In fact, the position of the battery helps me maintain a better hold on my iPhone. With typical usage, battery life easily lasts more than a day. Though the weight is noticeable, it is as easy to get used to as handling the Plus and Max iPhone models. Wireless charging is definitely a plus, but what stands out most is the *smartness* of the case. It just works!

With this the iPhone XS Max has enough battery for 2 days of usage.

It's a single piece- the top part is flexible. you bend it back and slide the phone in from the top. The hump is weird in the pictures but feels fine in your hand. Seems to offer the same level of protection as the other silicone cases. The iOS integration is great- when you start the charge it, it shows two battery meters side by side on the lock screen for the phone and the case. When the phone is unlocked, it shows up on the batteries widget as a separate item. Part of docking one start is that iOS doesn't change the battery indicator on the top left for this product- it just looks like my phone is charging when the case is plugged in.

From there I swiped my main screen to the right and observed the battery box which showed the charging level for my iPhone, Smart Battery Case, and my Apple Watch. Note: if you don’t see the battery box go to the bottom of the screen and hit edit and add the battery box to the screen. The battery case discharges first and reached 0% in 18 hours and 53 minutes. The phone battery reached 11% at 32 hours and 15 minutes I stoped and placed the case and iPhone on my wireless charger. If the battery case had an on/off switch i would have given it 5 stars.

Each one took several hours to charge, and then wholly discharged within three to four hours regardless of device usage. Once discharged, there was a noticeable drain on the device's battery as well - the phone would go from 100% to 40% in a very short amount of time regardless of usage. When attached, the "Smart Battery" interfered with call quality as well as general connectivity not limited to wi-fi, data, or bluetooth. Case off, no problems to speak of. As mentioned in previous reviews, your phone will always be charging with this case so "smart" is a misnomer. Both the case and phone become uncomfortably hot when paired, and this is likely because the case itself is not actively sensing charge level and moderating itself. Moreover, there's no means of turning it off so only time will tell if using the case did harm to the phone. Third-party options are superior, and given the asking price there should have been more QA before this was brought to market.

Works great and feels good, but won’t work on Belkin Qi wireless charger

I like that the little tab on the left side This is great for keeping your phone charged all day. I love the heavy feel of the phone when it is in the case. I like that the little tab on the left side of the phone is protected by the thickness of the case as I was forever accidentally hitting it and thus not getting calls. This battery pack will NOT work with the Belkin Boost Up Special Edition Wireless Charging Pad. Both the case and the charging base are Qi wireless, but the descriptions of both do not list what devices they are compatible with, so I took a chance and bought the base. I could not get the case to charge on the base. The case has a lightning connector inside the case and a lightning port at the bottom of the case to take a wired lightning charging cord. To put your phone in the case, you must bend back the top of the case and slide your phone straight down so the phone will slide onto the inside lightening connector. When all the way down, then snap the top of the case around the top of the phone. To take the case off, bend the top of the case off the top of the phone and then pull the phone straight up. Do not pull the phone off at an angle or you will bend the connector. I found that this battery case will sit on my iHome radio unit with no problem. So now I can keep my case on and charge both the phone and the case together at the same time. Of course you can leave the case on and hook it up to a lightning cable to do the same thing or take the case off and charge each separately. To view what the battery percentage is of the phone and the case, a double battery indicator screen pops up when you first connect to a charging device cord or when you slide the iPhone into the case. To view this again later, you must separate the case from the phone and reconnect or just leave the case on and plug in a lightning cord. The screen is only on for a brief time. Inside the case is a small pin light. If connected to a power source, if green, the pack is fully charged (or close to 100%). It also glows amber which means not fully charged. When not on a power source, it does not light up. Cons: I wish it had a finger loop like my old case. But with the weight of this In my hand it feels really secure. I would recommend this to anyone. It is a good unit.
