  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

Wish I could rate it 0 stars..

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      On 3rd Charger

I am a die-hard Apple junkie, but this charger is terrible. I'm on my third year of ownership of my MacBook Pro with Retina and also on my third charger. I have had my charger for the past 4 years and Thr rubber just recently started coming apart 4 years is a long time. I actually took care of both my charger and laptop. If you just throw the thing around you are bound to ruin it and tear it. So it is your problem for not taking care of it. My only problem is the price to replace. 79 is too high for a charger. Thats my only problem.

      Short life span

I wish I could rate it zero, but it did work for 9 months, so I gave it a 1. This power cord that you MUST use to power your Macbook Pro deteriorated after 9 mo I wish I could rate it zero, but it did work for 9 months, so I gave it a 1. This power cord that you MUST use to power your Macbook Pro deteriorated after 9 months. The rubber coating is very flimsy and broke open to expose the wires inside, and now it no longer charges my laptop. This cord sits in the dark behind my desk behind a wooden railing and has never been touched or moved after installation. The rubber coating is dried out and cracked. Apple has terrific laptops but horrific power cables. This is the fourth one I have had to purchase during the 6 years of owning my laptop. For a multi-billion dollar company, Apple should respect their loyal customers enough to provide quality accessories.

      Disappointed

I've had my Mac for about 3 years and very disappointed to see how the power adapter over heats. It would get so hot that I was afraid it would catch on fire. No surprise to see the cord is finally ripping.
