It even has a button to press to check to see if the current lighting is sufficient for charging. It feels like an apple keyboard. it has legs to prop up or you can lie it flat. There is a tiny, forgettable (in a good way) usb you plug into a Mac or a PC to make the connection. No software drivers needed. I'm currently using this on my work laptop which has Windows which is works great with. The only thing I would want beyond what this keyboard offers is illuminated keys.

      Great Keyboard

I bought two of these...the Windows version for the office, and the Mac version for home. First off I have always liked the flat profile of the Apple keyboards. I bought two of these...the Windows version for the office, and the Mac version for home. First off I have always liked the flat profile of the Apple keyboards. The Logitech keys have the same type and feel as the Apple keyboard. I must also have a numeric keypad, but did not want the wired version that Apple sells. Hence, the Logitech fits this requirement as well. I immediately replaced my clunky cheap work keyboard (cheapest HP the company could buy) with the Logitech. The home unit is paired with my Mac Mini, and they both have the exact same profile (with the OS specific keys for each type). So far after a year of use, I have had no problems with the functionality of either unit. Very pleased.

The original Mac keyboard was nice and small, but if I typed too fast, it disconnected. Needed batteries change way too often. I was actually glad when it died and I could get something else.

For this reason I purchased similar Logitech KB for my and my wife's work as well. The logitech Solar KB's are one of my favorite keyboards to use and I'd of given it 5 stars if not for the failures. I've had this MAC version keyboard over 5 years, and it's worked great until now, so I guess I'l luckier than many. Suddenly the battery level began to drop and then totally died. I ordered the special rechargeable battery for it, and it worked for a couple days until the new battery also discharged. It doesn't charge even in direct sunlight. I've also had three of the PC versions, one lasted six months (my wife's used at her work, replaced the battery but still malfunctioned), another 3 years, and the last one is about 2 years old and still working (use it at my work). There does seem to be a flaw in them to varying degrees, as I have other wireless keyboards twice as old still working last I used them, including my old apple wireless going on 8 years. I decided to go with the new Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and see how long the rechargeable battery will last. The reason I replaced my original Apple wireless keyboard was for the Numeric Keypad after the Apple looking add-on gave me lots of problems, often not connecting or loosing connection. So far I like the new Magic KB, just getting used to the reduced travel of the keys vs the Logitech or original Apple wireless. I do wish Apple had a solar version, it's been nice never dealing with batteries with the Logitech. I think I got my moneys worth on the Apple version, not so much on my wife's PC version. Just didn't want to risk it again and like the look of the Apple wireless in Space Grey. I think most will like the Logitech and I'm sure many last a long time before failure, so I wouldn't discourage anyone form giving it a try, since it's just over a third of the price of the Apple Space Grey KB.

Been through 3 of these in the last 7 years.

Even in my office, which has no windows and all the lights off when I'm not in the room, I have never had issues with lack of light. Typing feels good and has slightly more action than the standard Apple keyboards for desktop, types quiet and is not a "clicky" device. However, these do not last. Over the last 7 years I have exchanged 2 of them for replacement, which Logitech provided for free. Today, my third one went out on me. The support team has told me that this keyboard has a known defect that causes failure. Given this, it surprises me they are still making these. I would recommend spending twice as much for the Apple wireless, which is what I'm about to do because I'm tired of creating support tickets on the Logitech website.

      Logitech solar keyboard

I have had this keyboard for about 6 months, its horrible and disconnects all the time. Its not a battery issue as the battery is fully charged. However if yo I have had this keyboard for about 6 months, its horrible and disconnects all the time. Its not a battery issue as the battery is fully charged. However if you disconnect the dongle and reconnect, it may work again for the day. I have officially switched to the apple magic keyboard, nothing beats the MAC products.
